Which scumbag is going to alert on it and not have the stones to even sign their name to it?
I don't even have a dog in this fight but something rotten is happening here.
Cha, we have your back. [View all]
I am so very sorry about what happened to you today. A vicious attack on you. You were maligned ridiculed and piled on. I think I just fell through the rabbit hole and landed in CC. DU should hang their head in shame. A sleeper with 24 posts, member since 2008 rises to crap on you and gets 229 recs? WTF? This is the day DU died for me, not just by what was said, the inaction from admin, the inaction from jury and from the hosts in the BS group that ignored TOS and community standards and lifted no finger to stop this.
I love you Cha.
About Democratic Underground
Mission Statement
Democratic Underground is an online community where politically liberal people can do their part to effect political and social change by:
Interacting with friendly, like-minded people;
Sharing news and information, free from the corporate media filter;
Participating in lively, thought-provoking discussions;
Helping elect more Democrats to political office at all levels of American government; and
Having fun!
After more than a decade online, Democratic Underground still hosts the most active liberal discussion board on the Internet. We are an independent website funded by member subscriptions and advertising, and we have no affiliation with the Democratic Party. Democratic Underground is a truly grassroots community where regular members drive the discussion and set the standards. There is no other website quite like it anywhere on the Internet.
We are always looking for friendly, liberal people who appreciate good discussions and who understand the importance of electing more Democrats to office. So sign up today!
What You Need To Know
Members are encouraged to familiarize themselves with our Community Standards, the Statements of Purpose for the various forums and groups, and our Terms of Service. But if you don't want to be bothered with all that, we believe most of our members will do just fine if you make an effort to be a positive contributor to the community, and use your own common sense.
Our Community Standards
It is the responsibility of all DU members to participate on our discussion forums in a manner that promotes a positive atmosphere and encourages good discussions among a diverse community of people holding a broad range of center-to-left viewpoints. Members should refrain from posting messages on DU that are disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate. These broad community standards of behavior are maintained through the combined efforts of members posting and serving on citizen juries, using their own best judgment to decide what behavior is appropriate and what is not.
Members who cannot hold themselves to a high standard risk having their posts hidden by a jury of their peers, and being blocked out of discussion threads they disrupt. Those who exhibit a pattern of willful disregard for the Community Standards risk being in violation of our Terms of Service, and could have their posting privileges revoked.
Revolutionary Community Moderating System
At Democratic Underground, we believe that we can encourage good discussions by empowering all of our members to take responsibility for the discussions on the site. We want every member to feel that they have the power to help make this community the best it can be. We have developed a revolutionary new community moderating system, based on the principles of personal empowerment, transparency, and individual control, that completely changes the power structures and perverse incentives found on most other discussion forums.
Elsewhere on the Internet, there are two basic systems for moderating discussion forums: All-powerful elite moderators, or mob-rule member ratings. On both types of forums, the problems are roughly the same: a lack of accountability for the people moderating the discussions, and a lack of responsibility for the members posting. This, in turn, can give undue influence to a small number of highly motivated, highly organized partisans who may attempt to co-opt the system to try to impose their will on everyone else.
Democratic Underground does something different, based on a tried-and-true idea that has been tested over centuries: The randomly selected jury of peers. Every DU member has a chance to serve as a citizen juror to evaluate the posts of other members. Whenever an alert is sent on a disruptive post, six DU members are selected at random to serve as jurors. Jurors only evaluate one post, at which point their service ends for the day. Rather than empowering trolls, super-partisans, and busybodies, the DU community moderating system empowers the rest of us. (See Our Community Moderating System for detailed information.)
How You Can Help
There are many things that each DU member can do to help maintain our high standards:
Participating in discussions in a positive and productive way;
Taking advantage of our customization tools so you only see the content you want to see;
Clicking the "Alert abuse" link on disruptive posts;
Serving on member juries to maintain our Community Standards of civility;
Acting as a Host of a forum or group to make sure it stays true to its Statement of Purpose; and
Volunteering to help us identify and exclude obvious disruptors.
There are so many opportunities that we believe every member can help out in some way! [b
All the rules above were broken today. Every one of them and that thread was allowed to stand.
It should not be this way. This is supposed to be a Democratic board. Sadly it no longer is.

There has to be firewalls put into the system that there can be no alerting in protected groups since there are Mods. The reason for the alerting capability is to replace Moderators. Well, in protected groups, there are Mods, so why the ability to alert even when not part of the group??

I sent an e-mail to the administrator yesterday asking them to remove my account for this very reason. I am very sorry to see this happen to what used to be the only place for a sane American to come to for news after GWB was elected.
It does appear I've done the same. Turned the TV off and get my news here. Better information without all the sensational hype to keep viewers coming back for more gossip.
But I'm not ready to throw the baby out with the bathwater. DU's just going through a phase.

(9,148 posts)Gang stalking is an illegal form of harassment.
Snip
Eg. Gang stalking is similar to what the KKK used against blacks in the south, what Hitlers Brown Shirts used against the Jews, and what the organised harassment the Stasi used against dissidents in East Germany.
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=gang+stalking

Considering this harassment isn't just limited to DU, urban dictionary gets it right.
It is organized crime's oldest tool.
This is the revolution? Really?
This is censorship & has its roots far back in history
.
Love to all victims.
Sheshe, Cha, Hillary, John Lewis, E Warren, etc
Btw, the Bircher Kochs hired over 1200 social media hacks at the beginning of the campaign to train & organize their message of their ongoing Teaparty revolution.
This form of online mob stalking falls in line with Bircher history.
Just saying. Buyer beware & know your enemy

A full picture is emerging of the true force behind the censorship.
McCarthyism, Stasi, Anti-govt & Kkk.
We see a clear picture of our future under such non democracy rule.
The AA voters in SC, for starters, saw it early on also. Their near 100% vote for Hillary told more truth than most realize.

Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE

(14,400 posts)Like this one for Hillary Clinton and the ones for the other candidates are supposed to be places where supporters of that candidate can take part in discussions that are positive for their candidate.
There is a subset of members that seem to really enjoy going into the candidate groups of others and hitting alert on anything and everything. When a member has five posts hidden they are prohibited from posting again until one of their hidden posts expires 90 days from the hide and by alerting on almost everything someone posts there's a decent chance that they will find enough jurors feeling the same way and the poster will be given a time out.
If that sounds childish, vindictive and plain stupid that's pretty much correct.
