I remember St. Ronnie taking shots at Gaddafi. I remember the Gaddafi hero's welcome of the Lockerbie bomber. I remember Gaddafi was going to slaughter the rebels.

Oh yes, "Veni, vidi, vici!" From wiki: "The phrase is used to refer to a swift, conclusive victory."

Self-deprecating laughter seems very appropriate.

He was making it a better place by using Oil Money to undercut the IMF and World Bank
usurious "loans" collateralized by the country's Natural Resources (like water).
The IMF and World Banks had lusted for the riches of North Africa for years, but were blocked by Gaddafi and the oil money.

So, never to miss an opportunity, they Piggy-Backed on the legitimate Arab Spring to join an ongoing Civil War in Libya on the side of the Black Flag (Al Qaeda) terrorists in order to take out their obstruction, and turned the most progressive country in North Africa into another Failed State run by Islamic Fundamentalists who ave already instituted Sharia Law.

” For all his dictatorial megalomania, Gaddafi is a committed pan-African - a fierce defender of African unity. Libya was not in debt to international bankers. It did not borrow cash from the International Monetary Fund for any "structural adjustment". It used oil money for social services - including the Great Man Made River project, and investment/aid to sub-Saharan countries. Its independent central bank was not manipulated by the Western financial system. All in all a very bad example for the developing world.”

http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/MD27Ak01.html

The USA Freedom & Democracy Bombs don't seem to be working, do they.
Another WAR,...and we create another Failed State run by Radical Islamists.
You think we would learn.

BTW: The Freedom Bombs used by the USA in Libya killed many more Libyans in 2 months than Gaddafi had killed in the last 10 years.
Didn't Gaddafi understand that it is OUR job to kill the Muslims?

The BEST avenue for the USA at this point is to leave that entire part of the World alone,
come home and take care of OUR dirty linen.

Except in self-defense, there is no good reason for anyone of either sex to hit another person. There is less than no excuse to attack a candidate for office. That crosses a bright line into a danger zone. It's appalling that such a post should be allowed to stand.

from the Republicans. And not just any Republicans, the far-right, mouth breathing, batshit crazy Republicans.

It's amusing how they drag that shit over here without even trying to disguise the source. You can follow the shit-stain trail back to the wingnut sites quite easily.

Normally, I would not post any wingnut links here on DU. But all you have to do is look at the shit posted here by these people pretending to like the candidate to the left of Clinton, and then look at the places where that crap first came into bloom, and then, you know.

For example:

http://www.frontpagemag.com/2015/matthew-vadum/killing-qaddafi-hillarys-secret-role/
http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2015/02/01/washington-times-secret-tapes-undermine-hillary-clinton-on-libyan-war/
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/jan/28/hillary-clinton-undercut-on-libya-war-by-pentagon-/?page=all

Tools from the far right drag this shit to the far left websites, like Socialist Worker and "OP ED News" and smear it around over there with just a few changes, or sometimes none at all, and then the next thing you know, there's a trail of shit footprints leading over here.

You'd think people would tire of being used so thoroughly.
