to know what millennials wanted to hear. Like finding their catnip and running with it. He made this his platform.

What do you think of this?

(28,270 posts)So I won't say it LOL
Bernie thought he could get the youth vote to the polls for him and he was dead wrong.

(67,782 posts)That's one of the three things that bother me most about Bernie.
1) That is is really not a Democrat but is using the Democratic Party to get what he wants,
2) That he raises lots of money for his campaign, but does very little for other Democrats (oh, wait, he's not a Democrat),
3) He promised to run a positive campaign and has gone very negative while still insisting he is being positive.
So, not surprised that he polled before running to see what to promise young people.
I'm not young. I'm old, but I still work with young people and the best thing I can do for them is to be honest with them, not to promise them the world and then not deliver.

There is a sub-group out there who really believe that North Korea is a wonderful place, Putin is awesome, libertarianism is the way to go, and Bernie is their man. But looking at what has been said/done by Sanders, his campaign and his supporters
I think there's some Paulites involved along with an unsavory mix of other influences that aren't Democrats or even Greens.

(1,446 posts)I keep telling my parents that smart kids see through the Sanders pandering, but they insist is a socio-economic thing. My other evidence is that my friends at public colleges somehow think the Bernie promise for free education will effect them. As if such an expensive, vast change in policy (including tax hikes) will happen before they finish college (most are freshmen) with a repub congress...not that smart.

Now to me it sounds like he's prioritizing, or at least swinging focus toward, economic issues rather than social ones, specifically gay and women's rights.
I don't trust him on anything. He may have some strong opinions on the economy, but that falls far short of what I look for in a president.

(24,395 posts)- nor more-principled than - the average run-of-the-mill politician.
Let's face it, Bernie is the very embodiment of the run-of-the-mill politician - a carrerist with little or nothing to show for it outside of his cushy job, ridiculous salary, and self-aggrandizing belief in his superority to other run-of-the-mill politicians.

(1,019 posts)For a supposedly principled man, Bernie sure has flip-flopped on a lot of his core ideas about this primary election.
Now he's trying to say that super-delegates in states that he has won MUST vote for him, but super-delegates in states Clinton has won should give their voters a middle finger and vote for Bernie instead. Does he not realize what a hypocrite this makes him??

As an aside, the LA Times editorial chastised Trump for not knowing the rules of the convention, and Sanders for not knowing the role of Super Delegates.

At the beginning of his campaign, back in April of last year, Sanders claimed he didn't use pollsters, bragging that he spent $0 on polling.
