Steve, frustrating as it may be, you could try to extract constructive criticism from the reactions.

For example, in the thread you linked to, the anger of those impervious to the peace-offering seems to come from the difference between "listening to teachers" and "acting on the advice of teachers".

Now you might counter and say: what's the difference?
Try linking to a specific item in Hillary's program that shows she will back up her receptive ear with a decisive action.

The trouble Mrs. Clinton is facing is the bad image of the Third way / DLC, and the lesser legacies of her husband's presidency. She is her own woman (of course) and she is positioning herself differently than did her husband 23 years ago. Senator Warren has had kind words for Mrs Clinton, and senator Sanders has never denounced her. I'm guessing that Mrs. Clinton is part of a broader Democratic consensus on what needs to be done.

That being said, there is no denying that Third Way and DLC are distrusted in a significant part of the party, and by associating themselves with Mrs. Clinton, they do her a great disfavour.

If you cannot find a specific commitment to act on advice of those to whom Mrs. Clinton lends her ear, feel free to express your belief that she will do so. Or write to the Clinton campaign and ask for a token of such commitment.

If the act of listening is not enough of a peace offering, that doesn't make the folks on the other side ungrateful enemes of yours. They are still potential friends, whom Mrs. Clinton will need after achieving the nomination. Try to understand why they are so hurt, so distrustful. Their pain comes from a place of love. Try to heal their pain from a place of love, by asking: what would it take for you, what can I do to help you share the trust I have?

(Somebody will have to be the bigger man, and I've got a feeling you can be very big when you want to.)

And thank you for reading all that.

nothing anyone says will make them happy

Hillary could quit her campaign tomorrow and stump for Sanders and they still wouldn't be happy with her
