My link says the 16th. I have a feeling that there is some real dissension in Rome about Bernie's invitation.

Yes, there is a tragic humanitarian crisis going on in the Mediterranean right now, with refugees being shipped back to Turkey. But it isn't new and the first shipments began this week. So for the Pope to head there at the time of Bernie's visit speaks volumes.

Great to hear this. But my info says that he will be there on Apr 16. http://www.reuters.com/article/us-europe-migrants-greece-pope-idUSKCN0X4165 Perhaps he'll leave on the 15th. ??

What I do find interesting is that the trip is described as a "lightning visit" - which sounds as if this is being arranged in a big hurry.

I had mused earlier today that his reps would get him FAR away from Sanders -and fast - in order to avoid any inference that he was supporting a Sanders bid for the Presidency. Absolutely NOT the thing to do. The Pope "gets" that, even if Sanders and his people fail to.

First they tell him Hillary said Bernie was QUOTE UNQUOTE not qualified to be president and advise him to fight back. He can claim that the pope had to schedule a last-minute trip to Lesbos and was therefore unable to meet with Sanders.

Sanders still gets the MSM PR point he made with the "fictional" announcement of the pope wanting to meet with him, but he doesn't have to actually go through with it and possibly violate FEC rules about expenditures for non-campaign trips.

He also doesn't have to sit through a Catholic social theology discussion.

And his followers will never totally grasp what really happened.
