Re: Vatican: Let's talk hypocrisy. For 8 years, many have given President Obama grief for inviting

Rick Warren to the inauguration and for meeting with Donnie McKlurkin -- two rabid anti-gay Christian ministers. But despite how far we've come on LGBT rights, they have no problem with Sanders "meeting with" the Vatican, Pope Francis or whomever, despite their stance on LGBT rights, gay marriage, and views on women and families.

Susan Sarandon is creaming her pants over this "meeting," but there's no outrage at all from these people about the Vatican's homophobia or sexism.

To this day, some in the LGBT community and others outside of it have never forgiven the president for trying to invite all who disagree to the table; and despite his evolving on the issue of gay marriage (which I believe he was always really for) and all that he's done for the LGBT community. However, they have no problem and take no issue with Sanders going to meet with homophobes and misogynists.

Different moral standards? Yes. Hypocrisy? Of course!

It's because those of us on THIS side of the political fence are held to an entirely different standard than the ones who worship at the altar of St. Bernie the Pure.

and PA especially, too. There are HUGE numbers of Catholics that he's attempting to pander to.

What I fear is that once the original story of him being invited to the Vatican gets out, the implication is that it's Pope Francis who has endorsed him. I think that is unprecedented and *may* have an impact.

My oldest daughter is Catholic, and what she says is the Pope is no liberal whatsoever, he is attempting to bring the church more in line with Christian Catholic virtues. I like this pope, but any changes to church doctrine he would make would be so incrementally small they would change nothing in practice.

I believe the Catholic Church will eventually evolve on Gay rights--far sooner than they will evolve on reproductive ones, but it's decades away.

The double standards in play are just bizarre.

have a history of going back and forth on this issue.

The double standards are astonishing and makes me wonder what's really at play here, but I'm trying HARD to keep from being suspended or banned.

Trying to be a good girl...for once!

from his viewpoint as a JESUIT. These people who are going all atwitter over this false invite, I'd bet dollars to donuts many of 'em aren't even Catholic, so don't have a CLUE about what Pope Francis espouses, in all reality.

This link may explain some of his own underlying mission, given the order that he was elevated from to the Papacy.

But I'm no hypocrite - I still feel insulted by the invitation to Rick Warren and I still think the Pope is against my rights as a woman.

Do people still use "zomg"?
