http://www.rawstory.com/2016/04/bernie-sanders-dismisses-clinton-lead-a-lot-of-that-came-from-the-south/Host George Stephanopoulos noted Clintons lead in delegates and asked the senator if he would take his fight for the nomination to the floor of the convention.
Well, heres what I think, Sanders replied. I think at the end of the day, what Democrats all over this country want to make sure is that somebody like a Donald Trump or a Ted Cruz does not end up in the White House. And I think what more and more Democrats are seeing is that Bernie Sanders is the stronger candidate.
Shes getting more votes, the host pressed.
Well, she is getting more votes. A lot of that came from the South, Sanders parried. But if you look at the polling out there, we do a lot better against Trump and the other Republicans in almost every instance not every one than she does. And the reason is that we both get a lot of Democrats, but I get a lot more independents than she does.

(1,019 posts)Sadners outspent Clinton 3-to-1 in some states and still lost in landslides. The Democratic Party owes those Southern voters a favor for rescuing us from a deranged madman trying to steal our brand and organization for the aggrandizement of his own inflated ego!

How are we expected to believe Bernie Sanders will protect our vote when he doesn't find it valuable?

@jbouie While Clintons worked to regain Black trust by supporting POTUS, Sanders called for primary & elevated Black Obama-bashers as VIPs.

Sanders needs to ask McAuliffe how he even had a sniffing chance of becoming governor of VA. Black Democratic women voters put him in office

The continuous dismissal of Black voters is what irks a lot of people about Sanders. A base the Democratic party needs on every level.
Ugh.

To have a Democratic candidate for POTUS so casually dismiss a voting group that shows up for the party every time is infuriating.

(50,554 posts)I truly love how Virginia is "from the South" so Hillary's win there is to be dismissed (even though Virginia DID go for Obama both times he ran), but Bernie's wins in Idaho and Wyoming, who haven't gone blue since 1964, prove he has "momentum."

(4,787 posts)African-Americans have been forced throughout US history to fight for the right to vote that white Americans take for granted, and every one of them has the right to have that vote respected.

(34,439 posts)Caucused or voted in open Dem primaries.
Those are NOT necessarily the same group as "independents" who will vote in the general election.
For example, I'm in an open primary state and have three friends who voted in the Repub primary here, even though they are strong Dems. Any Repub who is counting on them as "independents" or crossover voters in the general would be foolish.
Many of those so called "independents" or crossover voters Bernie is getting have never voted for a Democrat in their life, and never will. Republicans have been encouraged to vote for Bernie, and even donate to him because the GOP knows Bernie will be a lot easier to beat in the GE. A whole lot of so called Bernie supporters right here on DU are NOT who they claim to be. Their goal is to make sure NO Democrat gets into the WH, and they are playing both sides here to try and make that happen. The old divide and conquer tactic.

(2,117 posts)digest too well in a general election that requires minorities to win. If the South doesn't count, well let's see how his strategy of only winning white votes in places like Vermont works out for him.
