4. There comes a point when even the most pro-a-particular-candidate journalist

realizes that said candidate has gone beyond the pale, and that they (the journalist) need to state the obvious and get on the right side of a story, lest their reputations suffer by defending the indefensible.

As much as these guys love the horse race, they know that it's over, and that Sanders is over as well.
