Bolivian President To Observe Tupac Katari Satellite Launch

LA PAZ, Nov 28 (BERNAMA-NNN-PRENSA LATINA) -- President Evo Morales will travel to China in December to observe the launch of Tupac Katari, the first satellite to be put into orbit by this South American country, officials said.

Morales is scheduled to arrive in China in transit from Venezuela, Minister of the Presidency Juan Ramon Quintana told reporters. He did not provide an exact date for the trip.

The Bolivian president's stopover in Caracas is "linked to an international political event."

Quintana said that the land station from where the operations of the Bolivian satellite will be monitored, is under construction (85 per cent complete), part of a US$300 million project.
