Latin American Herald Tribune - ?Dec 26, 2013?
CARACAS The Venezuelan Armed Forces (FANB) immobilized a small aircraft that penetrated the nations airspace in Apure, a border state with Colombia located southwest, according to a military chief who did not provide either the origin of the aircraft or the fate of its passengers.
Aerospace and Defense Command @ceofanb detects, intercepts, and immobilizes air raider in the Pedro Camejo municipality of Apure state, Vladimir Padrino, chief of the Operational Strategic Command of the Venezuelan Armed Forces (CEOFANB), wrote in his Twitter account. Padrino never made clear whether by immobilization he meant the aircraft was shot down.
Also, the tweet had a photo attachment showing an aircraft seemingly shot down and burned.
Venezuelas President Nicolás Maduro said on November 6 that some 30 planes allegedly linked to drug trafficking were forced to land in compliance with the Control for the Integral Defense of the Airspace Law, passed by the National Assembly (AN) in May of last year.
The AN adopted this law that allows the implementation of interception, persuasion and disablement actions on aircrafts and other flying objects violating the countrys airspace.
