(62,325 posts)still restricted. Citizens of a free society should be able to go where they please. What is the US Govt afraid of? Still living in the past. It's a shame.

(62,325 posts)have far more interaction with people from other parts of the world. This country has been very isolated from other cultures, receiving only propaganda about them from our government. But people of other regions of the world travel a lot more, and are less inclined to believe the 'evil' label we seem to apply to entire cultures when it suits the government.
Eg, I have friends in Europe who can't fathom why the US hates Cuba so much. Many of them have been there and absolutely love the country, the people and are puzzled by the attitude here towards such a tiny country. It seems so petty.
My feeling is that if you are the one who seems to have enemies everywhere, while everyone else seems to be able to get along, maybe it's time to start looking at yourself.
Not to mention that some of our close 'friends' make Cuba like a paradise in terms of human rights.
