Mexican Immigrant Found Hanged in U.S. Detention Center
TUCSON, Arizona – Texas authorities are investigating the death of an immigrant who was found hanged in his cell at the Border Patrol detention center in McAllen.
The Border Patrol confirmed that the 54-year-old man of Mexican nationality was found unconscious Friday, and after being taken to McAllen Medical Center, was pronounced dead.
Border Patrol spokespersons in the Rio Grande sector said they are cooperating with the investigation to determine the circumstances of the immigrant’s death.
Still unknown is what the Mexican citizen could have used to hang himself, and how long he had been without supervision.
