UN to assess Venezuela's effort against torture

http://www.eluniversal.com/nacional-y-politica/140929/un-to-assess-venezuelas-effort-against-torture

What steps have been taken to eradicate torture? How many officers have been punished for such a crime? This and some other questions will have to be answered by the Venezuelan authorities next November 6-7 before the United Nations Committee against Torture (CAT), which will assess the actions taken to prevent such violation of human rights.

The information has been posted on the website of the international organization, which will hold its 53rd session on November 3-8, 2014.

------------------------------
Meanwhile, non-governmental organization Red de Apoyo por la Justicia y la Paz (Justice and Peace Support Network) claimed that despite legal reforms and millions spent in training, torture is usual practice by the Venezuelan police.

-------------------------------
Similarly, Amnesty International said the lack of punishment was the reason for police and military abuses reported during anti-government demonstrations in Venezuela back in February, where 3,000 detainees were subject to maltreatment and held incomunicado for hours.

wiping their asses with newspaper because there's no TP on the shelves?

All those silly complaining demonstrators who are griping that they were abused in detention are a buncha liars, I say! Surely Saint Hugo's/Maduro's forces, augmented by Raul's thugs, er, Happy Helpers, wouldn't be MEAN to anyone while they kept them incommunicado for days or weeks, now, would they?
