Colombia suspends extradition of FARC leader to US
Mar 9, 2015 posted by Alice Bradshaw-Smith
Colombia on Monday suspended the extradition of a FARC leader to the United States amid an ongoing debate about whether the country should end extraditing guerrillas who are negotiating peace with the government.
The already approved extradition of Eduardo Cabrera, a.k.a. El Cura (The Priest), was postponed by the national government on Monday, reported news agency Colprensa.
Cabrera is the older brother of Fabian Ramirez, one of the FARCs negotiators in the peace talks with the Colombian government that began in 2012.
The executive resolution concerning Cabreras extradition orders forces to defer or postpone delivery of the Colombian citizen Eduardo Cabrera in connection to the criminal proceedings being carried out against him, Colprensa reported.

I'd imagine the FARC won't "blow up the whole peace negotiation and be able to blame it all on Santos."

(14,732 posts)"Blow up" in that context means "destroy, ruin, end".

(5,902 posts)I believe Judi Lynn made it quite clear that she gave the term the same meaning you did.
It might also be worth mentioning that on that much we all agree here: may the peace process in Colombia work irrespective as to who gets more credit than whom, and may it be lasting.
