Cuba Preparing Conditions to Recieve Foreign Artists
Havana, Jul 10 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Music Institute (ICM) is preparing conditions to satisfy the interest of relevant foreign artists to perform in the Caribbean island, said ICM president Osvaldo Vistel here Friday.
After the intention of the governments of Cuba and US to restart diplomatic relations, there has been an increase of the interest by certain artists to come to Cuba to perform, though the range of interest was already existing.
"Cuba has always counted on great musicians and that motivated many artists to come. Now, we must develop mecanisms for the concretion of such wishes," said Vistel in an interview he granted to Cuban newspaper Granma Friday.
"There is still a lack of resources to finance the concerts by foreign artists, and those who have done it up to now, have not collected a dime for their work," Vistel added.
So it happened, when famous artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Arturo OâÖFarrill, Audioslave, Michel Legrand, Charles Aznavour, Sepultura, Rick Wakeman, Kool and the Gang and The Dead Daisies came," he added. "Little by little we should guarantee some requirements in the theater presentations, to have response capacity," he said.
