LA PAZ, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Bolivian government on Wednesday presented a proposal for the Gender Identity Law, which would allow transsexual and transgendered individuals to change their names and genders on their ID and birth certificates.

Justice Minister Virginia Velasco told a press conference that the law will now be sent to Bolivia's legislative assembly for its approval.

"The Ministry of Justice has worked with different institutions on the proposal for the Gender Identity Law, which will establish a procedure to change data about names and genders for transsexual and transgendered people," Velasco said.

&quot Those) wishing to change genders, will be able to change their data at civil registry offices and this will help recognize their identities," she added.
