Bolivia Denounces Destabilization Campaign by Opposition
La Paz, May 3 (Prensa Latina) The Bolivian Vice Minister of Coordination with Social Movements, Alfredo Rada, denounced a destabilization campaign orchestrated by the rightist opposition, which insensitively manipulates disabled people.
During a press conference at the Government Palace, Rada stressed that on Friday the representatives of the nine federations of this social segment reached an agreement with the Executive.
Another group of disabled people is insistently trying to put pressure on the national government, despite the agreement signed with the state, Rada said.
They arrived on April 25 in the city of La Paz from Cochabamba after a walk of more than 30 days to claim a monthly bonus of BOB 500 (nearly USD 72).
"We have heard that the leader David Cayo stated that the pressure measures against the government of President Evo Morales will be radical and by any means they will enter the Plaza Murillo, in front of the Government Palace, the Vice Minister said.
We are struck by this, because we have the impression that this is a political objective, and not a vindictive objective, and that they want to aggravate the conflict and generate confrontation, Rada said. We urged again this group that persists in pressuring the government to join the recently signed agreement, the Vice Minister said.
