Glenn Greenwald: President's Impeachment Process in Brazil is a Trojan Horse for Neo-liberalism
The Intercept's Glenn Greenwald says that President Dilma Rousseff's Vice President and would-be successor, Michel Temer, is a corrupt politician who would take the country on a sharp neoliberal turn

I worry about Greenwald being there with this happening.

It never occurred to me before seeing your comment, he really could be in danger right now and forward until sanity gets the upper hand again.
Hope he's keeping his security in the forefront of his mind. Without a doubt he has enemies there, too, now that he has dared to speak out.

(160,452 posts)He also despises women, and saluted the principle torturer for the military dictatorship.
Sounds as if the heat is really rising around these lunatics as they attempt to seize control.
No doubt he would crave seeing gay journalists terrorized as soon as he thought his rightists could swing it without going to jail.

the military regime even brought its religious engineering to Umbanda, rerouting Afro-Atlantic religion as a symbol of militarized nationhood
it's a situation of status-quo conservatives vs. a hard right that wants to remake society, that wants to go beyond what those mere greedheads at the chambers of commerce want

(160,452 posts)It's strange they were able to even stick those right-wing snouts into such a unique blend of religious elements. Disgusting.
Evangelical missionaries have gone everywhere, of course, for longer than US Americans seem to realize, and their work has not all been as "innocent" as they would have people believe.
So glad you mentioned the saint kicker. It seems almost impossible he's not from here, as it's just as bizarre, in such an awkward, ugly, stupid way, as US Pentecostal tv stars like Jimmy Swaggart.

Kick that saint! [/center]
I'm starting to wonder, seeing the clenching up of the US "tea party" and these military dictatorship promoters in S. America, if this new strain of right-wing maniac isn't more organized than it seems.
They probably went into over-drive the moment they realized the people of the Americas were speaking through their elections, and decided they were going to silence them, shut them all down again.
They are bound to lose, in the end, and they are too blinded by their greed, hatred, love of power to realize it now.

(23,730 posts)America's never had a real conservative movement, just a few paranoid elites able to throw millions around and remake whole segments of society
this Flat-Earther shit doesn't happen in like Germany or Scotland
