Panama, Dec 28 (Prensa Latina) Of the Panamanian rural population, 50 percent lives under the line of poverty and in urban areas, the scourge reaches 14 percent of the inhabitants, according to research published in this capital.
A report by the Panamanian Labor Foundation specified that unemployment contributes to the increase of poverty in rural areas, while in indigenous regions, exclusion is explosive, because it affects 87 percent of the people.
The organization warned that 75 percent of the jobs generated during 2016 were in the informal sector, while net employment in the private sector decreased in around 15,000 jobs, the local media said today.
The study revealed that a third of the Panamanian workers still does very precarious agricultural activities in terms of productivity and income.
