Associated Press September 19, 2017
MEXICO CITY (AP) -- A magnitude 7.1 earthquake rocked central Mexico on Tuesday, killing at least 44 people as buildings collapsed in plumes of dust and thousands fled into the streets in panic.
The quake came less than two weeks after another quake left 90 dead in the country's south, and it occurred as Mexicans commemorated the anniversary of a 1985 quake that killed thousands.
Mexican media broadcast images of multiple downed buildings in densely populated parts of Mexico City and nearby Cuernavaca. A column of smoke rose from a structure in one central neighborhood in the capital.
Morelos Gov. Graco Ramirez reported on Twitter that at least 42 people had died in his state south of Mexico City.

Keeps looking worse and worse, and this is just Mexico City, which was supposedly on the edge of the quake zone per USGS.
OK, so one was a planned imlosion, another probably a random fire. There is news in there, also.

You can see the flash of explosives before one of the building collapses, for example. However, his reporting seems to be decent.

(32,076 posts)7. She's a university professor there and she was working from home. When the chandelier started to
shake she ran upstairs put the leash on the dog ran back down the stairs which were then moving, and went outside. Posted the word fuck on Facebook a few times when there were some particularly lively aftershocks. Said th a the side to side quakes are bad enough but the up-and-down thing is really fucked up.
My homie cousin's from the south side of Chicago and not easily frightened ...
