Venezuela HAS NOT taken over Haiti as "the poorest country in the hemisphere".

In fact, there are several others who are much poorer. Including Peru, Bolivia, and several small nations in Central America.

This "news" has no source. It was said it was a "research" done by "the government". The research has no names, was not published anywhere, and, of course, even a fish must know a domestic research done by a government could not serve to determine in which position other nations are in a ranking of poverty.

Just more propaganda and post-truth shit from US mainstream media.

extreme right wing agenda. The rich everywhere pine for the return of their absolute power.
Venezuela under the generals and industrialists pre-Chavez was far worse. Not to mention the powers in charge then did not give a shit about decreasing poverty.
America needs to keep it's imperialistic paws off Venezuela's people...and oil.

Of all the oil out there for consumption, Venezuela is sitting on the worlds biggest confirmed reserves of dog shit. The oil is like tar. Even sludge more viscous. It takes tremendous effort to get it out of the ground, (including thinning agents imported into Venezuela), it is high in sulfur, and other than the fact that Venezuela has a lot of it, it isn't worth pumping up when oil prices are low. It takes industry pros to manage the pumps, and Chavez fired them all in 2002. Now the likes of Halliburton are doing the work. Only 1/3 of the wells are pumping any more. At least until Maduro stops paying them. Chavismo has put the final nail in the coffin that used to be Venezuelas gravy train.

As far as Venezuelas 4000+ generals? They are all loyal to Chavismo. (err... Cuba). They are a "right wing" as Castro.

And now Venezuela has 80% of its population living in poverty, up from 30% pre-Chavez. So if egalitarianism is the goal, the dream will come true.

Venezuela has collapsed because of disastrous economic policies, brain dead economic policies. But some day rational government will come back. And Venezuela has abundant resources, an educated work force, etc. A factory along a river, near roads and rail lines, probably can be bought for pennies on the dollar now. Some day it will be worth a lot more.

The only way that private reinvestment in Venezuela will come back is if the investors can be assured that their investments cannot be nationalized again. Chavismo has nationalized more private companies (500+) in the last 17 years than all of South America combined in 50 years.

Please be forthcoming with a link. Perhaps from a source that YOU trust. Like Venezuela Analysis, or TeleSur. Maybe CounterPunch?
