The Brazilians voted for him anyway.

Just like an Indian diplomat said in 2000: the office of the presidency of the United States is too important a post to be left to be chosen by the people of the United States--maybe the Brazilian rain forest is too important to the health of the planet to be left to the voters of Brazil.
