Colombia again spying on courts, journalists and human rights defenders: report

Colombia again spying on courts, journalists and human rights defenders: report
by Adriaan Alsema May 25, 2019

Colombia’s Prosecutor General’s Office is illegally spying on the country’s high courts, local and foreign journalists, human rights defenders and politicians, prosecution officials told newspaper La Nueva Prensa.

According to the whistleblowers, former chief prosecutor Nestor Humberto Martinez set up an elaborate system that allowed the wiretapping of anyone deemed a potential liability for the national government and banking conglomerate Grupo Aval, Martinez’ former employer and the sponsor of President Ivan Duque‘s 2018 presidential campaign.

Duque, Grupo Aval and Martinez have all been accused of involvement in the Odebrecht bribery scandal.

Spying on foreign journos and in the United States
Multiple agents of the prosecution’s technical investigation unit CTI told the newspaper that among the intercepted journalists are foreign correspondents and that the illegal activity is also carried out in the United States.

God only knows who is involved in this nightmare. It all started during Alvaro Uribe's Presidency, and Alvaro Uribe is the puppet master to this President Duque.

1. Not unlike the Extortiongate scandal in Argentina, where Macri's using his pet prosecutor to spy

on media figures, opponents, Supreme Court justices, and even his own allies.

Others are being shaken down for money outright - notably organic farmer Pedro Etchebest, who had to flee Argentina for his safety after helping expose this scheme.

As in Colombia's case no doubt, Argentina's intelligence agency is being misused to do the dirty work itself.

There's reason to believe this is happening with Cheeto's (and Elliot Abrams') encouragement as well: http://www.intrepidreport.com/archives/26671

Thank you, Judi, for tirelessly keeping up with these developments. A daunting task sometimes.

2. Glad to have been sitting down while reading the link provided.

I recognized so many names I had seen earlier, thanks to some superior depth, background shared already in news articles you've already posted. I am surprised to hear that big loud politician, Elisa Carrió is involved in this, too! I did look her up in recent times, saw that she had been extremely close to a very wealthy guy who was also involved deeply with the previous dictatorship. (She was far younger and thinner then, clearly, and they looked as if they were quite a pair. Her mannerisms in later years, which I saw coming through in even still photos makes her look pushy, overbearing, wildly self-centered, and even swinish! Oink. She has connected with rough characters in earlier days, clearly.

But... Marco Rubio? I always thought he was always just a little loudmouthed liar and that anyone sensible would pay little attention to him. I had no idea he could involve himself in something so destructive so successfully. He has been howling about Venezuela a lot, and I assumed it was because there were so many rich Venezuelans in South Florida who have bonded with the rich Cuban "exiles."

So glad to learn some information on Elliot Abrams I unfortunately hadn't discovered, yet. How disgusting he has been so involved in such deadly, evil operations, and would be in prison right now, possibly, if George H W Bush had not pardoned his slimy backside.

After reading the article, had to store it in my files for future reference. This information certainly has accelerated the game far beyond the picture I had earlier held. Going after Vasquez, in Uruguay, as well. Jeez. I thought he had always attempted to be a little more moderate than anything else, that he was somewhat low key, mild-mannered, etc. I had no idea Lucia Topolansky is his Vice-President! She is incredible! So now that situation looms before us, too.

Far, far more developed, this insane new rush to domination, than I could have ever learned at my earlier speed, and almost none of it ever makes the corporate media versions of current affairs in the Americas. As always, they will admit nothing until well after declassified documents are finally forked over years down the road, no doubt, in response to some researchers' requests under the Freedom of Information Act.

So many more names to sqeeze into the picture, now! It's all so completely logical, it all seemed to fall perfectly into place going through the article. These fascists are treacherous creatures, born without a conscience. Spiritually lobotomized! They are nothing but garbage.

You've given us so much more to think about today. I surely appreciate it, so much. It's wonderful seeing more confirmation of things mentioned in this forum long ago. Very cool.

Thank you.
