Rousseff: 'elections without Evo in Bolivia would be a farce'
Brasilia, Feb 23 (Prensa Latina) Former Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff said that if the Bolivian justice system vetoes the candidacy of former President Evo Morales for the Senate, the elections in that country will be a farce.
'If the justice system dominated by coup leaders vetoes Evo's candidacy for the Senate, this veto shows that the elections promoted by those who destroyed democracy is a farce,' wrote the former head of State (2011-2016) on Twitter.
She called Morales 'one of the best presidents' Bolivia has ever had and he was 'overthrown by a coup d'état and persecuted by coup mongers', a fact that forced him to seek asylum in Mexico and Argentina.
The head of the Supreme Electoral Court, Salvador Romero, considers that the indigenous leader does not fulfill the requirement of residing in Bolivia to run for the Senate in Cochabamba. He reported that effective residence is required.
