This is the US military deployment against Venezuela
Written by David Alandete

Thousands of infantrymen, sailors, and members of the Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard are deployed.

The White House has rarely authorized a military deployment of the magnitude of the one announced by Donald Trump on Wednesday, something even more relevant considering that the order was received by the Pentagon just as the country faces its worst health crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic. Thousands of US soldiers are deployed in the Caribbean and the Pacific, in an anti-drug operation in which the Navy, the Air Force and the Coast Guard mainly participate.

Operation details

Under the supervision of the Southern Command, and the admiral in charge, Craig Faller, there are already infantry soldiers, sailors, and members of the Marine Corps, the Air Force and the Coast Guard in a complex device to interrupt three drug routes: from Venezuela to the Caribbean islands and Central America, and from Colombia to Central America. The goal is to reduce the arrival of cocaine, methamphetamines, fentanyl, and other narcotics to the United States. For this there are already warships deployed off the coast of Venezuela and in the Pacific, according to a map displayed by Trump when making his announcement.

According to the President, the resources of the armed forces mobilized for this mission are destroyers, warships, fighters and helicopters of the Navy; ten ‹cutter› ships of the Coast Guard, and surveillance aircraft of the Air Force. The Navy has mobilized its Boeing P-8 Poseidon, prepared for anti-submarine warfare. They come from the Pacific and European commandos, and from the Norfolk Naval Base in Virginia.

Anti-Drug Agency

Coordinating efforts with the Southern Command, which is based in Florida, include the Drug Enforcement Agency (Dea) and the departments of Homeland Security and Justice. Some of these routes, especially those that go by land, will be monitored from the air, with supervision planes of the Air Force.

The objective of the deployment in the Caribbean was made clear on Wednesday by Defense Secretary Mark Esper: “Corrupt actors, such as the illegitimate Maduro regime in Venezuela, depend on the profits derived from the sale of narcotics to maintain their repressive power.

The Venezuelan people continue to suffer enormously due to Maduro's criminal control over the country. "

Regarding terms, the operation began on April 1, and, extraordinarily, has no deadline. According to Secretary Esper, the head of the Pentagon, said: «I am not going to reveal how long it will last.

We will evaluate it, and we will make adjustments. We can increase forces. We can decrease them. We can keep them as they are. But it will be an evaluation that we will do interministerially. We will inform the President. And we will take your guidance from there.

all around Venezuela recently.

He has been saber rattling at Venezuela ever since he waddled into the White House, but it appears he intends to inflict some suffering somewhere soon now.

And he wants to distract us from our troubles or he is trying to distract us from finding out about this. No wonder he needs hundreds of Billion$... gotta pay off the mercenaries he'll be sending in next.

and it's crappy oil to begin with.

The US is the world's largest oil producing country right now, why would we want to steal VZ's crappy oil?

It's hard to refine, and if Chavez and Maduro hadn't so fucked up their oil production, they might be in a better place economically.

Oil he wants to steal?

I mean, this asshole is so far beyond reason. He does like the idea of "just take their oil" and there has to be something else they are after. It could just be distraction but there has to be something else and the fact that it's oil of any kind would spark the interest of the orange one because he's all about appearances.
