Italian businessmen call for end to US blockade on Cuba
Rome, April 15 (Prensa Latina) The Italian Section of the Cuba-Italy Business Committee (Ceci) called here today for the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the Caribbean nation for almost six decades.
In a statement, Ceci said that at this time of profound global health emergency due to the Covid-19 pandemic, feelings of humanity and solidarity represent an urgent issue of individual and collective responsibility.
The statement denounces that the policy of isolation applied by the US government against Cuba, limits the possibilities of its government to fight the pandemic by blocking the possibility of acquiring sensitive goods such as food and medicines, among others.
It also thanks the Cuban government for its gesture of 'solidarity and humanism' in sending two brigades of doctors and nurses to combat the Covid-19 to some of the worst affected regions in Italy.
