Brazilian director Sandra Kogut has moved between documentary and fiction throughout her career, with a sharp eye for social realism. Her latest film, "Three Summers", looks past the powerful elites to see how ordinary Brazilians are affected by the intense political turmoil gripping the country. She tells us about the challenges faced by those working in the artistic sector at a time when the Bolsonaro administration is waging a "cultural war".
And as anti-racism protests sweep the globe, Kogut expresses her hopes for Brazil's black and indigenous communities, and underlines cinema's social and political role in bringing about change.
