Cuban doctor attends to Peruvian governor with Covid-19
Moquegua, Peru, Jul 9 (Prensa Latina) The governor of the region of Moquegua, Zenon Cuevas, who tested positive for Covid-19, is evolving favorably in isolation at home, while he is attended to by one of the members of the Cuban medical brigade.
Group Chief Dania Alvelo told Prensa Latina that the governor is being treated by Cuban Doctor Victor Samuel Ramirez, who is an expert in internal medicine.
She added that Cuevas had the first symptoms seven days ago and his evolution is favorable, although he suffers from diabetes, an adverse condition in these cases.
Dr. Alvelo noted that eight Cuban doctors and Peruvian professionals travel every day to the nearby port of Ilo, where they work at the state hospital in the city of Moquegua.
She explained that they put up tents in Ilo and provide medical care, and travel to high-contagion areas where they detect patients with Covid-19 symptoms who are referred to the tents to be tested for the new coronavirus.
