U.S. congressman denounces damages to Cuba due to blockade

Washington, Jul 31 (Prensa Latina) The economic and social damage to Cuba resulting from the U.S. blockade prevents development and cooperation at unimaginable levels, said on Friday representative of Illinois to the U.S. Congress Bobby L. Rush.

Rush, who two days ago reintroduced a bill to normalize relations with Cuba, assured today on his official website and on Twitter that he will never cease in his efforts to see the links between both nations normalized.

That is exactly why I introduced two Cuban-related amendments to the House of Representatives' Appropriations package to address these problems and improve our relationship with our closest neighbor, the politician explained.

The activist and pastor also recognized that work at high levels needs to be strengthened to raise awareness among political elites.

'My commitment to strengthening U.S.-Cuba relations remains as strong as ever, and I am proud to know that by submitting these amendments, we have revitalized discussions about the best way forward between our two nations,' Rush said.

I thank my colleagues for their commitment to work with me in the coming months and hope they will join me in this critical effort, he added.
