Bolivia: New President and Vice President receive their credentials

La Paz, Oct 28 (Prensa Latina) Bolivia's Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) on Wednesday gave credentials as elected President and Vice President to Luis Arce and David Choquehuanca, respectively, for coming 2020-2025 term.

Salvador Romero, TSE's president, highlighted the compliance with the schedule for October 18's general elections as an unmovable date, as well as the talks with different parties, political alliances and social movements.

Likewise, he thanked international observers for their presence in the election process and citizen participation with more than 94%, the second highest record in the history of Bolivia.

Previously, the 130 deputies and 36 elected and alternate senators received their credentials on Tuesday. According to the delivery speech of Bolivia's Plurinational Electoral Body, 51.9% of assembly members are women, including young people under 35 years of age.

I’m glad that democracy prevailed in this turbulent Nation. I served as a foreign service officer at the US Embassy during the mid-eighties, and of my nine worldwide postings, I found Bolivia to be the most corrupt.
