Colombia to denounce police violence against women

Bogota, May 14 (Prensa Latina) Thousands of Colombians will return to the streets on Friday to protest and demand justice for the excess of public force against peaceful demonstrations, and particularly against sexual abuse in this context.

Groups of Women, mothers and different sectors will denounce today that Allison Lizeth Salazar Miranda, 17 years old, was assaulted by police officers.

According to several reports, the young woman, daughter of a police officer, was arrested on the night of May 12 in Popayan, southwest of the capital, and then was abused by four agents of the Mobile Anti-Riot Squad (Esmad).

Yesterday, her body was found lifeless and, according to reports in different media, she committed suicide. In social networks, expressions of rejection to this act of violence that today shocks Colombian society are multiplying.
