Blondie are set to release a Cuba-inspired EP to accompany a film about their 2019 performance in Havana, Cuba.

The six-soundtrack EP, ‘Blondie: Vivir En La Habana’ will be released on July 16 ahead of the film’s premiere which will take place at Sheffield Doc/Fest later this year. Directed by Rob Roth, the short film documents their 2019 live debut in Cuba.

The EP will see feature special guests Carlos Alfonso, Ele Valdés and María del Carmen Ávila of Cuba’s Síntesis and includes performances of ‘Heart Of Glass’, ‘Rapture’ as well as ‘The Tide is High’ and ‘Wipe Off My Sweat’.

Speaking about the EP, Blondie’s Debbie Harry said: “We had wonderful Cuban musicians join us for the performances – vocalists, percussionists, horn players – they added a terrific level of excitement to our songs. On ‘The Tide Is High’, Síntesis vocalists Ele Valdés and Maria del Carmen Avila sang with me and did the original harmonies that John Holt had put on the song, it was incredibly beautiful.”

Blondie are set to release the six-track soundtrack EP, 'Blondie: Vivir En La Habana'.

To accompany the upcoming Rob Roth-helmed short film documenting their iconic 2019 live debut performance in Havana, Cuba, which is due out later this year, Debbie Harry and co will release the mini album featuring special guests Carlos Alfonso, Ele Valdés and María del Carmen Ávila of Cuba's Síntesis.

The collection includes performances of 'Heart of Glass', 'Rapture' and renditions of 'The Tide is High' and 'Wipe Off My Sweat'.

The latter two tracks are available digitally now, ahead of the EP's release on July 16.

Debbie said: “We had wonderful Cuban musicians join us for the performances - vocalists, percussionists, horn players - they added a terrific level of excitement to our songs. On ‘The Tide Is High’, Síntesis vocalists Ele Valdés and Maria del Carmen Avila sang with me and did the original harmonies that John Holt had put on the song, it was incredibly beautiful. Latin music has always been part of the feel of New York, so it was amazing to finally be able to put a very personal touch on the heartbeat of Cuba. VIVA!”

3. Wow! I just heard about it for the first time tonight! It sounds like a tremendous event!

It's so good hearing so many things broke loose when Pres. Obama opened the door to Cuba, even though the former guy slammed it shut again.

Sounds as if they really bonded with Cuban people, which is so good to hear!

I take it you're really familiar with Cuba. Super GREAT. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

4. More of a Blondie fan but sure would like to see cuba

Also love cigars bigly.

This was after trump shut it down again I think, but you were/are allowed to go to cultural thingies. It would have been like $3000 plus airfare and it just seemed like wayyy too much. I sort of regret it but it’s ok. It was a tough call.
