Buenos Aires (dpa) - A helicopter carrying Colombian President Ivan Duque came under fire on Friday.
"The helicopter we were flying in was the target of an attack," Duque said after the aircraft landed in the city of Cucuta, in the country's north-east.
Bullet holes could be seen on the helicopter, according to Duque.
"This government will not lose a minute in the fight against the drug trade, against terrorism and organized crime," he said.
Duque was with Defence Minister Diego Molano and Interior Minister Daniel Palacios on the trip from Sardinata in Norte de Santander department to Cucuta, on the border with Venezuela, when the helicopter was hit by gunfire.
None of them were injured, according to initial reports.
. . .
It was not immediately clear who was behind the attack.
"I have instructed the security forces to pursue those who shot at the aircraft and put others' lives in danger," Duque said."The message is that Colombia remains strong in the fight against crime."
Last week a bombing on a military position in Cucuta left more than 30 people injured.
The Colombian government pointed to the guerilla ELN organization as responsible. The rebels rejected the allegations.
