Brazil: Congress Will Vote on Bill that Wants to Censor Election Polls
The proposal also wants to diminish quotas and make it difficult to punish politicians; text should be submitted in the coming days, says Lira

A 372-page bill that proposes, among other things, changing electoral legislation and censoring election polls will be considered by Congress in the coming days.
The text, in 902 articles, creates mechanisms that weaken the quota system for women and Blacks and rollback the rules for candidates and parties.
The intention of the president of the house, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), is to submit the material for discussion and put it to a vote soon after. There is support among lawmakers, many of whom would benefit from loosening the rules in the 2022 elections.
Written by Congresswoman Margarete Coelho, and linked to Lira, it creates an electoral code that replaces the current law.
One of the changes is to demand a percentage of correct results in the previous five electoral cycles from the research institutes, which specialists criticize since the surveys portray specific moments during the campaign and not the final vote.
