Foreign Minister denounces impact of blockade on remittances to Cuba

Havana, Aug 31 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez on Tuesday described as inhumane the effects caused by the US blockade on remittances to Cuba.

The extraterritorial scope of the blockade is increasingly affecting the services provided by the commercial company Fincimex and hindering the flow of remittances to Cuba from various parts of the world, the foreign minister wrote on Twitter.

According to Rodriguez, 'this inhumane policy persists in separating and punishing Cuban families.'

In a recent statement, Fincimex reported new problems in the normal and timely flow of these shipments, due to obstacles from the US government.

'The website aisremesascuba.com has been unable to maintain its service standards and has had to delay the period of accreditation of remittances to eight days, due to the difficulty of finding financial institutions that authorize the level of daily operations to meet the growing demand for this service,' according to the statement.

This occurs because, 'regardless of the fact that operations are carried out in euros and do not contain flows from US companies, the banking sector is pressured by the US blockade,' the text published on Facebook added.

Fincimex recalled that Washington included it in the list of restricted enterprises of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) in 2020, which harmed operations between banks and, therefore, the service of sending money to Cuba.

Maybe the Cuban gov just needs to admit & form a solution to change why their own people are oppressed.

Start by addressing WHY the embargo & sanctions were put in place.
Vow to actually begin doing their own part in lifting their own people.

Prove to the US when the govt of their own people has changed before demanding more.

When Cuba's govt structure begins a major shift in actually blaming themselves & then rapidly changing their own policies for their oppressed people, come back to the table & the Biden admin will listen.

..where their people wil no longer have to protest the sorry results of decades of a government who kept them living in the 50's rather than advancing as a free society.

Lawrence Welk would represent that oppressive gov't so well.
Good choice of gif. to represent in what era the Cuban people were stalled from advancing from.

Tell me again why the embargo was enacted in the 1st place.
