1. Bonus toon and commentary

Horsey gets exactly why it is a total waste of time to try to talk sense to the insensible. The Trump supporters are operating on guts and emotions, not brains.

ON THE OTHER HAND, it looks like the Dems -- courtesy of Nick Anderson -- aren't doing any better. Sigh, sigh, sigh, sigh. Didn't we learn this in 2004, when all the fighting over Kerry and Edwards fractured and bankrupted the party, while boooosh coasted? Didn't we learn this in 2008, when the intra-party hatred -- I still get called names because I was a Hillary supporter then -- tore DU apart?

For fuck's sake, people, are you going to demand purity or settle for shit? Grow up!

2. Well, Stupid mostly coasted on the back of hacked electronic voting plus incumbency

Between the two of those things, we could have run the Second Coming (if he had turned up, he's late) and he wouldn't have stood a chance.

The real circular firing squad was in 2008, the same personality cultists we see now snarling at the opposition and swearing they will either sit home or vote third party rather than vote for a Democrat who has 95% in common with that hated opposition lined up and doing the same thing then.

Trashing GD and the single candidate forums has helped a lot, but rabid partisans keep throwing that stuff into Good Reads and Videos. "Trash Thread" is getting one hell of a workout.

BTW, David Horsey is one of my favorite toonists. He draws the Muddle American Idiot better than anyone else.

4. No shit. And besides...

I always look forward to SMW because politics is usually a tangential subject, with economy/finance/business etc on the forefront.

Please, I don't want SMW to morph into GDP.

And before anyone says it: Yeah yeah I know. Politics DIRECTLY IMPACTS economy/finance etc why can't you see that are you stupid politics affects everything blah blah and on and on.

I know all that. I get it. But I go --out there-- for all that. This place is kinda a respite from all that.

6. Y'know. .. .

#1 -- I don't have to do this.

#2 -- This thread has been getting damn little traffic. Most of the economy news that used to fall under SMW is now being posted on its own. (See #1)

#3 -- This remains Democratic Underground, not Nader or 3rd party or green or Drumpf Underground.

#4 -- I don't have to do this.

#5 -- I've served on three juries in the past two days, and all three issues were petty, childish, "If I don't get my way I'm gonna throw and tantrum and make everyone else miserable" posts. It's ridiculous, imho, that in the time it takes me to log on, post the SMW template, and log off, that I get hit with all these alerted posts. So don't read my thread. Don't post in it. But understand that I'm a staunch democratic socialist who really really really really wants Bernia Sanders, BUT I want a Democrat, any Democrat, way more than I want Trump.

#6 -- I don't have to do this.

While economic news is thin here recently, you do keep a running list of banker convictions, and always have interesting toons!

Which, in view of such lack of interest, raises the obvious question.

10. You're getting the juries because a lot of us are excluded from the pool.

They have a formula, where every post you have hidden lowers your chances of jury duty by 20%. I've been getting stalked lately, and have had some really bullshit hides. I was getting two or three juries a day until a couple of months ago. Now I haven't had one in 2 months.

I'm just keeping quiet for now, until I tell this place adios very soon.
