Quote for the Day:

If the past is anything to go by, we can expect a repeat performance with the electronic media. No doubt there will be a shift away from the elite use of computer networks, and in the not so distant future, everyone will be required to be "plugged in" – to be computer literate.

Access to networks will be seen as a human right. There will be parliamentary acts which make it mandatory for everyone to be wired up, for so many hours a week, so that they too can become informed. The authorities will be able to reach – and program – the entire global village. In such circumstances, thought management will be far from science fiction.

he was wrong about the requirement by government that one be connected, in theory if not in fact. That was done by users, themselves, and it was done by smart phones that are exponentially more powerful than the computers he was talking about and loaded down with social media "features" that encourage addiction to compulsive scrolling during any and all free moments.

Being connected was almost a necessity by the late 90s, early 00s, when it was the only way to do things like book the cheapest air fares if you had to travel. Phones are a necessity now since there are no more pay phones, another bit of infrastructure that has been shifted away from being supplied by corporations and onto the backs of consumers.

Traditional tech moves up, even META. I just don't know what's up with TSLA and Twitter. Almost as if he's trying to crash them to crash the markets because he's short everything.
