Post Production Guild-NY (filed for CWA union shop today 3-8-22)

A group of TV and film post production producers and coordinators are organizing with CWA and filed for their union election today. The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers refused to voluntarily recognize them despite the fact that almost all of the eligible workers have signed cards.

They've already gotten strong support from others in the industry and the NY city council. They will be rolling out support letters over the course of this week.

Who We Are
The Post Production Guild - NY (PPG-NY) formed in 2019, is a collection of 152 freelance Post Producers, Post Production Supervisors and Post Production Coordinators working in New York in scripted film and television with the aim of advancing and protecting the creative and economic interests of its members. On March 8th we filed for a union election to join the Communications Workers of America Local 1101.


What We’re Fighting For
A standardized wage scale, as well as scale minimums
Guaranteed health insurance, retirement benefits, and workers' compensation
Standardized job descriptions and defined fair working conditions
Defined / minimum credits
Guaranteed OT on days in excess of 12 hours, as well as guaranteed holidays
A clear and fair reporting structure for discrimination and/or harassment
Representation and collective bargaining power with regard to any/all of the above items
