SAG-AFTRA Mourns the Passing of "Sopranos" Star James Gandolfini

>>>
SAG-AFTRA mourns the sudden loss of SAG-AFTRA member and SAG Award recipient James Gandolfini, who became a household name as the star of The Sopranos. Throughout his career, Gandolfini received five SAG Awards and 11 nominations. He won Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series in 2000, 2003 and 2008, and shared the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series in 2000 and 2008.

SAG-AFTRA released this statement today: “We were shocked and saddened to hear of James Gandolfini’s death. He was an extremely talented actor who was greatly admired by his peers. Despite his tough-guy persona onscreen, he had a heart of gold and was an admirable human being who never stopped giving back to the community.”

SAG-AFTRA offers its condolences to his wife, family and friends. He will be sorely missed.
