Mickey Kasparian on the TPP

By Mickey Kasparian

President Obama, If TPP is Good for Hard Working Men and Women, Why Can’t We Read It?

June 3, 2015 (San Diego) Mickey Kasparian, President of United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 135 today released the following statement after President Obama’s local news interview regarding Fast Track Authority for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).

“Instead of talking into a satellite camera, President Obama should listen to the hard-working families of California who overwhelmingly oppose fast track. He says that the TPP is different than past trade agreements that failed a majority of Americans, but thanks to leaked drafts and a negotiation process that included 600 corporate lawyers, it’s apparent that this deal will be a disaster for everyone but the wealthiest corporations.

“The level of secrecy that surrounds TPP is deeply troubling. If this deal is truly good for hard-working men and women, then why can’t we read it? If the President believes this is a great deal, why can’t he prove it to us? American workers deserve to see the uncensored truth of this agreement.

before finding out what's in it.
So the text will be released, and the Admin will be saying "See, we released it. There's been no secrecy." and we will accept that because it's reality, now, and there will be a faux "discussion" in the press, and that will be reality for a short time and then it will be voted into being, and all will be good.
Next!

I got this by the way, as I was at the Mexican consulate in the middle of quite a hottish situation Cops were around the corner ready to come in and remove people by force. I was glad I had some of my riot gear with me. (Yes, we carry those since Ferguson)

So told Mickey, when we get home sure.

for being willing to take such a tremendous kick in the crotch, sacrificing the well-being built up over their entire history, in order to provide a level playing field with citizens of Vietnam. Though I don't think the Vietnamese will be providing the bulk of "the investment capitalist class" -- hehe. Just think, only a few decades ago the US was bombing shit out of Vietnam, and now the US is making Vietnam full and equal partners with the USA, where Vietnamese workers and environmentalists and activists get to work on a level playing field with their US partners.

It's all about the workers. The Everyday Americans.

I'm not saying that we Canadians won't take a kick in the crotch. Tho' we just might evade it, if Harper loses this October. But in any event, our US partners will be taking the full on force of it, the rest of the US dominion will be feeling only echoes.
