Libbey Glass workers strike
This is where I work, and contract negotiations for all of our unions have been contentious. We walked out at 12:01 tonight, and have no timetable for return.

(323 posts)Mismanagement writ large. All of the profit goes to the top and the new plant manager is a West Point grad who runs the place like the service and not a place of business. She took a hard line, and we walked out after weeks of negotiations that went nowhere.

(323 posts)The company illegally cancelled our insurance coverage on the day of the walkout, even though we were paid up until the end of October. The Plant Manager told us in town hall meetings over summer, "Libbey cares about you, your families, your health, and your safety."
That does not seem to be the case.
