Question...........
I got an email that was dated yesterday and sent at 5:43 p.m. I read it this morning around 11 a.m. It was an offer for a phone interview for either today or tomorrow.
I replied that tomorrow, July 3 would be fine and the time for the interview was at the writer's discretion as I was free all day. It is now 8:40 EST and I have no reply from the sender. What should I do? Also what's interesting is that it is not for a job I applied for within this organization. I have found a job description and I do meet the qualifications. I'm not even sure what City this job is located in. Help!! I am cross posting in the Lounge.

1. What you would you expect their timing to be if they got, say, 300 applications for the job that sam
day? Maybe 500?
If there hasn't been other contact, or you don't know them, you could send another email onto the stack. If you have a phone number you could call - shouldn't hurt you at all, just tell them you are really interested. my < 2 cents. |

4. No go..........
After the telephone interview not with the person it was supposed to be with and at a time that had not been agreed upon and receiving an email sent at 8 p.m. on July 3rd, by a person not known to me and who was not in the office, email stated I would not be interviewed for the position. But I had been.
I sent an email on the 3rd to my interviewer, I sent one again on the 11th, saying it had been 8 days since I had emailed him...........he said I wouldn't be interviewed further. I'm tired I've not worked for 3 years. |

5. I know that's more than disappointing, but from my perspective you may
be better off being able to look at other opportunities. Even if they pay less, it sounds very much like you would have not been appreciated, maybe even mistreated at that place. There have to be better ones. Don't know whether you are ready to consider it yet, but this is a new day. As hard as it is, put it behind you. You say you haven't worked in awhile, so that's your job today. Find a way to move on. Find something else to do, to think about, so it enlarges your thinking about possibilities. Call Meals-On-Wheels and offer to deliver a couple of meals - while you are driving look around at the businesses and think about how you might be able to help them. If you are able, throw on some jeans and an old shirt and apply at a day labor place - not for the money, but the fresh air. One never knows, you might get sent to a place where you can check out their human resources board on their nickel. Most important, however, and as difficult as it may be, is to not let that three years weigh on you. It's over, it's dead weight, there's no need to carry it any further. Put it down, lighten your load, and find another direction. |
