Can you explain this for me?

Why would a recruiter for a well established company send me an email in response to my resume using an email address like this:

donotreply@invalidemail.com

while at the same time including the sender's actual email address in his signature? I replied to the "actual" address and have not heard back.

Used to get many of those. Or if a reputable place, they could have a certain set of criteria to send automatic emails to that include a good address to reply.

Good luck!

The company is relying on 'Taleo', an Oracle tool used for recruitment. They should have changed the default address, but didn't.

They may not want to change the default address so they only receive emails from people that are truly interested.

But if it's a legitimate recruiting firm, they may just be out for the holidays. If you still don't receive a response in a few days, maybe call the firm?

Regardless, I wish you luck on your job hunt. Pretty awful out there.

Happy New Year!

I don't know how the Taleo thing is supposed to work; does it defeat the purpose if I don't reply directly even though it's to an "invalidemail" address?

The fact the real email address was included suggests that they don't want direct replies. It's probably an email address that is not monitored and only used to send to people who meet certain criteria. MANY legitimate places do that

If you searched the email address and found it to be legitimate company, I wouldn't worry.
