So I got a major financial kick-in-the-ass today.....
Seems that I owe $63K for loans that I thought were forgiven, probably 50% interest at this point from 2011. Maine hasn't garnished past rebates till now. $3150 this cycle.
I'm thinking of settling, total principle now. 2nd option is using SS to pay this down over 2-1/2 years. Oh well. I like working....

Re-upping this for no particular reason. The easiest lawsuit I ever filed and any one can do it.
In my experience, none of these student loan servicers / loan sharks kept proper chain of title. You challenge their ownership, they decline to respond, you get a default judgment.

Some of us satisfied our student loans the old fashioned way.
Suing the bullshit shell companies that bought up the debt without keeping proper chain of title.
Think. Again.
(22,456 posts)....practiced by predatory student loan lenders, that seems fair.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
