HELOC - Anyone got experience with Aven?

So I am following on from a prior thread: https://www.democraticunderground.com/11216646 I never have gotten around to either my cc consolidation nor my HELOC for home repairs. Life kept intervening. Anyhow...

Although I'm a bit reticent to "re-capitalize" some of my house with a HELOC, I think the rates would be cheapest for what I'm needing to do. I have several repair/replacement projects to do, as opposed to a single project like "bathroom remodel." These various projects may not be done by the same people, nor at the same time. Trying to get bids for various combinations of projects was part of what sent us down a rabbit hole last fall. So I'm wondering about Aven's credit-card type of HELOC, where you can charge the work as you go over, say, 3-5 years; during that time, you pay the interest only on the balance charged so far (and principal, too, ideally) and then pay off P+I after the 3-5 years "charge window" closes. This would be ideal for me, since the work will likely be ongoing and I frankly don't know exactly how much I will need. With this approach, I'm only paying back exactly what I needed/used/borrowed, and hopefully at a low home-backed rate. Although, yes, I do understand that the "credit card" approach comes with a variable rate.

Does anyone have any experience with Aven for this kind of thing? Or perhaps another lender?

When investigating this, consider the difference between stuff that NEEDS to be repaired and stuff that you just want. 3Hotdogs 13 hrs ago #1
Understood. It's structural and functional stuff in disrepair. Beartracks 12 hrs ago #2

USe the HELOC for the former and save for the latter.
