Michigan Emergency Facist Manager turns entire district into charter school

The Muskegon Public School Board requested an emergency manager who plans to place the entire district up for a charter school bid. All teachers terminated. All other staff terminated. The charter will be debt free. The "district" retains the 14+ million dollar debt the original "board" wanted to get out of under.

This is creating jobs republicans????

And they're doing damn well at it, too.

While costs go up and hunger goes up and medical care goes out of reach for most people.

And then they bleat on about 'terrorism'.

So now you can work for minimum or less than minimum wage in movies in Michigan while no one gets a decent education b/c they don't correct problems--they just wipe them off the deck. The "district" will no longer be educating kids so they will not get state aid.

Which means that the 14+ million debt will go unpaid and remain in some book somewhere.

Which means that the people who did work or provided supplies for the "district" are shit out of luck.

PLUS

The union employees will no longer be paying into the state teacher pension fund.

Which means that the current unfunded (since shithead Engler ceased upfront payments) pension program FOR teaching personnel just lost a pile of the needed money for that system.

All of which is going to mean big fat costly litigation that the citizens will pay for too.

Some management.

THIS IS COMING TO YOUR AREA. DEPEND ON IT.

from the dearth of debt that has BEEN cascading into every public school system since Snyder slashed the state aid budget last year. And get this--there are systems with higher debt than Muskegon.

So there you go--have debt--can't go bankrupt--hire any old emergency manager and just call yourself a fucking charter school.

get told that their petitions have the wrong font and will be rejected. This whole thing stinks of corruption.

http://michigancitizen.com/appeals-court-hears-case-for-pa-ballot-petitions-p11209-1.htm

Before the Court of Appeals, Attorney Herb Sanders argued for justice on behalf of the 226,000 citizens who signed a petition to place the repeal of the state’s emergency manager law, Public Act 4, on the November ballot.

Downstairs in the lobby, dozens of people — denied access to the small courtroom above — marched and chanted for an end to the “dictator law” and justice for citizens in all cities under emergency management.

“I have not lost confidence in this process, but there are a whole lot of people downstairs who have,” Sanders told the three-judge panel. “You owe it to them to do the right thing. 226,000 people signed petitions, asking their government for redress, yet we are debating whether or not the print is appropriate.”

<snip>

The 226,000 signatures to repeal PA4 were submitted in February to the Secretary of State’s office for validation. Soon after, a group called the Citizens for Fiscal Responsibility (CFR) surfaced, challenging the validity of the petition based on substance and technical defects, saying the type size was incorrect.

Brownback just 'reformed' the tax system. Business owners pay NO taxes. The wealthy pay NO taxes. The Kochs pay NO taxes. Education funding has been cut back to 1992 levels. And the poor pay higher taxes.
