education deform in ireland

this is a short speech by a teacher of the year, very heartfelt.

it sounds like ireland is implementing the same education deform we are, as is the uk. and using the same tactics, e.g. teacher-bashing.

what a coincidence that everyone is doing the same thing.

speech starts around 2"

The Finnish system treats teachers as professionals and empowers them. It doesn't allow for profit-mongering from private industry.

than ours. Irish students are allowed to spend a year out of school, which most of them choosed to spend interning in business -- this young lady spent her year doing mathematics related to Internet security.

A good read for students with an interest in math -- particularly young women: http://www.powells.com/biblio/1-9780761123842-22
