This Edible Water Bubble Wants to Replace Plastic Bottles

What if you could plop a strange orb of water into your mouth instead of keeping a water bottle on deck? That’s the goal of Skipping Rocks Lab, a London startup seeking to prevent 1 billion water bottles from reaching the ocean each year. Their product has a name appropriate for the delight of its novelty: ooho!

The ooho! is a ball of water surrounded by a biodegradable, edible membrane made of seaweed extract. You can tear it open and pour it in your mouth or simply eat the whole thing.

and if it proves out to be true then I see no problem with it.

The pitcher costs $29.99 and filters are $6.99 each and will do 40 gallons, which equates to $94.40 in the kind of bottled water I buy. The breakthrough for me is you don't have to wait for the water to filter like the old Brita pitchers. I normally go through two or more 12-packs of Poland Spring 700ml bottles a week. Of course, this is on top of what I pay the town for my water, about $80 a year.
