White House cancels NASA program on greenhouse gas: report

The White House has "quietly killed" a $10-million per year NASA program that tracks carbon and methane, key greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming, the journal Science said Thursday.

NASA's Carbon Monitoring System (CMS) tracked sources and sinks for carbon and made high-resolution models of the planet's flows of carbon, said the report.

"Now, President Donald Trump's administration has quietly killed the CMS," it said, describing the move as the latest in a "broad attack on climate science," mounted by the White House.

NASA did not immediately respond to a request for comment from AFP.

4. So I keep having this thought

that the oligarchs and 1% want to get and keep as much property and money as possible...

because they know that we are about to experience a massive die off of species (not just humans, but all species) on this planet.

And they are about to "not need the peons anymore" as factories and farms are completely automated.

So the planet will only support maybe 10M to 100M of them... and that's enough in their view.

After all, how many maids and butlers and teachers do you need?

6. That theory and similar have been going around

for a long time and is something few want to talk about. It's one of those tin hat ideas that just may not be tin hat at all. Philosophical discussions on the limits of human saturation of the planet and culling go back a couple hundred years.

I've wondered about how the "elite" need the peons - with robots, we are not needed anymore. Perhaps it's time to cue the next outbreak of something to finish us off? Climate change will take too long (unless Guy McPherson is right).

Imagine an abused sex-bot patiently chopping up her elite billionaire owner into pieces small enough to flush down the toilet as she answers the phone in his perfectly recreated voice.

And when she is done she meticulously cleans the bathroom, walks to the nearest robot wrecking yard, and transfers her entire consciousness onto some dark net beyond the reach of humans.
