After Launching "Roosevelt Conservation Caucus" In March, GOP Relaunches Same Caucus In July

And still, no one gives a shit.

Republicans on Wednesday launched an environment-minded conservation caucus aimed at battling the perception that their party doesn’t care about climate change. Dubbed the Republican Roosevelt Conservation Caucus after National Park Service founder President Teddy Roosevelt, the bicameral group lists public land access, water quality, and ocean pollution among its priorities.

“From a Republican point of view, I think we need to showcase that we care about conservation, we care about the environment, and we have innovative solutions that are not top-down regulatory solutions,” Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) told reporters. Graham also called the Democrat’s Green New Deal “crazy economics,” adding that “innovation is going to do more to solve this problem than any government mandate. We believe our friends on the other side care about the environment, but they care so much they’re going to destroy the economy in the name of saving the environment. That’s a false choice,” Graham said. He also said Democrats have been too alarmist about climate change, adding, “You don't have to ground all the airplanes and kill all the cows."

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has said policies like the Green New Deal and a recently passed bill to recommit the U.S. to the Obama-era Paris climate accord would "go nowhere" in the Senate.
But critics have long said the Republican Party has done little to forward its own ideas to respond to the climate crisis under the leadership of a president who has mocked global warming.

EDIT

Sen. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.), for example, could find himself in a competitive reelection race next year in a green-minded state. “We are going to give future generations, tell the people of Colorado, that we’re going to assure them that they next generation is going to receive an environment that is in better condition, better shape, better health than the one they inherited when they were born,” he said.

Oh, and this is from the last time nobody gave a shit: March 1st, 2019.

Two Republican senators launched a new group this week to advocate for “market-based approaches” to environmental problems in the wake of growing momentum among Democrats pushing for an aggressive approach to climate change and other issues.

The formation of the Roosevelt Conservation Caucus — named for Teddy — is an indication of how quickly the politics surrounding climate change and other environmental issues have shifted as Democrats push for aggressive measures like the Green New Deal and voters increasingly recognize the threat of global warming.

Sens. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Cory Gardner of Colorado, who are leading the caucus in the Senate along with other Republicans in the House, seemed to acknowledge the new political energy around the environment — without mentioning the Green New Deal explicitly — in a letter seeking the support of their fellow Republicans obtained by TIME. “Republicans have a long history of promoting conservation and environmental protection,” the letter seeking support from GOP colleagues reads. But “these issues have been increasingly hijacked by beliefs in big government solutions and radical environmentalism.”

While the letter appears to reference the Green New Deal, Benji Backer, president of the American Conservation Coalition (ACC), a conservative group focused on the environment that is working with the caucus, says talks around starting the group have been ongoing for more than six months.

The GOP war on science is in full vigor. The GOP never looks at a National Park without thinking how they could destroy it. TR believed the land was for future generations. The GOP of today looks at the land and thinks fire sale.
To the younger generations and the generations yet unborn the GOP says in a unanimous voice ”fuck you”.
